Once upon a time, there was a poor boy named Malin Kundang. He lived with his old mother in West Sumatera. He was very nice boy but he was very angry with his poor. He wanted to be rich. He wanted to went to a City.
“ Malin... Please don’t go. Please don’t leave me alone “ said the Mother.
“ No, Mom. I have to go to a City. We are so poor here “ said Malin Kundang.
“ We are poor, but we are happy. Aren’t We? “
“ No, I am not happy at all ”
“ Weel, if you want to go. I can’t stop you for leaving. But promise me. You’ll never forget me, Okay? “ Asked the mother.
“ Don’t worry mom! I’ll be all right”
As his mother predicted before. Malin Kundang hadn’t contacted her yet. Every morning, she stood on the pier. Every night, she pray to the God for her son safety. She kept waiting and praying for him.
Ten years later. Malin Kundang became rich. He felt so lucky. Unfortunately, he was becoming arrogant.
“Now, I am a rich man. I have a lot of money. I have a very big ship. And i have a pretty woman, ha...ha...ha...” said Malin one day.
A day later, Malin Kundang returned to his town for a business. When he got down from his ship, suddenly! An old woman got close to him and said.
“ Malin.. How are you darling? ”
“ Who are you? I don’t know you! “ Malin Kundang pretended to forget.
“ I am your mother Malin “ said the mother.
“ It’s impossible, I don’t have a poor mom like you!”
“ Malin.. Please.. Open your eyes! I am your mom, Malin! “
“ Go away crazy! I am not your son ”
After all, the mother couldn’t hold the pain anymore. She cried and cried.
“ Dear God, if he isn’t my son, please save his journey. But if he is my son, I cursed him to become a stone!! “ She prayed to the God
In the quiet sea, suddenly the wind blew so hard, and a thunderstorm came. Malin Kundang’s huge ship was wracked. He was thrown by the wave out of his ship and fell on a small island.
“ Mom! I am sorry! Please forgive me!” Asked Malin.
Suddenly, his whole body turned into a stone.
Moral Value
Well friends, from the story we can take the lesson that if we want to get God’s blessing, we should honor our parents whatever and however they are. Our prophet Muhammad SAW. Said in hadist “Allah’s blessing depends on parent’s blessing and Allah’s fury depends on parents fury”
